FAQ
No — absolutely not. It is not safe or recommended to get waxing done while taking
Roaccutane (Accutane).
This medication causes extreme skin sensitivity and thinning, especially in the outer layers of
the skin. Waxing during this time can result in skin lifting, scarring, bruising, and even
infection.
You must be off Roaccutane for at least 12 months (as advised by your doctor) before
considering any waxing or professional skin treatments.
There is no need to trim or buzz any hair before coming in to see me. In fact, we
prefer if you don’t. As a result, their waxing outcome isn’t as smooth as it could be
because the hair was too short to pull. So, as we always say, the longer the hair the
better! If anything needs trimmed we will take care of it.
PREPARATION & AFTERCARE
Before Your Treatment:
Before Your Wax: For best results, please arrive freshly showered with clean, dry skin. This helps ensure a more comfortable and hygienic experience for both you and your therapist.
We appreciate your care! Please discontinue the use of Retinol, Vitamin A, or any exfoliating cleansers at least 7 days prior to your waxing appointment.
Hair length: Hair should be about 1/2 cm long — roughly the size of a grain of rice. Avoid shaving prior your appointments.
I Suffer from Ingrown Hairs — What Can I Do?: Ingrown hairs can be frustrating — but you're not alone, and there are effective ways to treat and prevent them. You can purchase an Ingrown Hair Treatment Cream directly from the salon. This specially formulated product targets and treats ingrown hairs quickly and effectively, helping to reduce inflammation and redness without causing infection.
Pain sensitivity?: You may take an over-the-counter pain relief tablet (like ibuprofen) 1 hour before your appointment if you're sensitive.
Avoid waxing if…:
• You've had recent sunburn, skin trauma, or laser/chemical treatments
• You have a spray tan you want to keep — it will come off during waxing
• You’re within a week before your period (higher pain sensitivity)
Minimize sensitivity: Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and salty foods the day of your appointment.
After Your Treatment:
Moisturize Daily: Hydrated skin helps prevent ingrown hairs and keeps your skin soft.
Exfoliate 3–5 Days After: Use a gentle scrub or mitt to prevent ingrown hairs — repeat every few days.
Shower After Workouts: Sweat and friction can clog freshly waxed follicles, so always cleanse skin after exercise.
Avoid for 24–48 Hours:
Spray tans or self-tanners
Swimming, gym sessions, saunas, or hot tubs
Tight clothing or bikinis that may irritate waxed areas
Don’t Shave Between Waxes: This disrupts the hair growth cycle and reduces waxing effectiveness.
Bonus Tip: Book regular appointments every 4–6 weeks to stay in sync with your hair growth cycle and minimize discomfort over time.
