The Lowdown

Who is it suitable for?

Skin Needling is a skin rejuvenation treatment suitable for all skin types 1 – 6. It doesn’t use any form of heat, so it’s a great anti-ageing and resurfacing option for darker skin types.

How much does it cost?

Skin Needling costs $235 for a single treatment, with great value packages and programmers also available.

 Does it hurt?

Skin Needling treatments can cause some discomfort but aren’t painful. Although numbing cream is used for many other skin needling treatments, the vibrating effect of the Skin Needling interrupts the pain receptors in the skin which makes numbing cream unnecessary.   Also slows down  the skin response, which means  we will see a delayed wound response. The Skin Needling isn’t rolled or dragged across the skin like a dermal roller, so the microscopic punctures it makes are clean, direct and cause little to no pain because there is no tearing of the epidermal layers.

How many treatments is best?

You’ll see an improvement after one treatment, but we recommend repeating your Skin Needling treatment every 4 weeks until you achieve your desired results. For best value and results,  I recommend a series of 6 treatments.

What can I expect after?

After your Skin Needling treatment, your skin may appear flushed, with slight redness and possible mild swelling. You may also experience light flaking. But don’t worry: the majority of redness and swelling should subside within 24-48 hours. The entire healing process takes 2 to 5 days. I  highly recommend  purchasing an essential after kit  this kit contain everting your skin need  for the next 7 days for your skin to keep skin healthy and prevent infection $40

How long between treatments?

I  recommend repeating your Skin Needling treatments every 4 weeks until you achieve your desired results. For scar correction an average of 6 – 12 treatments is normally recommended with lasting results commonly seen after six months.

Post CareIf you have ever had a cold sore, take a course of antivirals as a preventative for 1 week pre and post treatment if having a treatment done on the face, especially around the mouth. Trauma can trigger an outbreak and this can negatively impact your healing and results.
  • Cease using any AHA/BHA/Vitamin A/Retinol/Tretinoin at least 72 hours prior to your appointment.
  • 7 days before treatment:
  • No Chemical pees, waxing, laser or depilatory cream.

Immediately after a treatment:

  • There will normally be redness in the area. This is normal and is a result of the inflammation that causes collagen induction. With a 0.5mm roller this will usually clear within a few hours but can persist for up to 2 days in some cases.

  • You may experience some itchiness in the area due to the release of histamines. An Anti-Histamine may assist in the reduction of this.

  • Some dry skin may be experienced and a hydrating skin care cream is useful to assist this. This dry skin is caused because the moisture barrier of the skin has been breached by the needles and is a normal reaction.

  • The skin may feel tender to touch.

  • You may experience an immediate feeling of tightening in the skin. This is because skin-needling immediately shortens the elastin fibres so tightening the skin

  • You may also be more sensitive to sunlight straight after treatment. This affect can last for several days. Avoidance of direct sunlight is preferable and if this is not possible SPF 30 or above sunscreen should be applied.

  • In rare cases there may be some bruising, swelling or marks where the needles have entered the skin.

  • In rare cases small pustules may form on the skin. They should disappear on their own. If they persist please see a GP.
